Since its creation in 2003, Choose Life Generation has been strongly committed to supporting the development strategy undertaken by the Government of Cameroon, particularly in the areas of health, education, and the protection of the rights of socially vulnerable populations. These populations include:
-
Orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC)
-
Adolescents and youth
-
Women, especially in rural areas
The organization has worked tirelessly to foster an environment conducive to the development and empowerment of these target groups. This has been achieved through the implementation of impactful programs and projects that promote access to healthcare, education, and the protection of social rights.
Progress and Limitations
Despite the significant efforts made by Choose Life Generation — with the consistent support of the State, development partners, civil society actors, families, and communities — the progress achieved remains insufficient. This is primarily due to:
-
The fragmented nature of interventions
-
The lack of a concerted and harmonized vision
-
The absence of an integrated, holistic approach to the development of the target groups
These limitations have affected the sustainability and long-term impact of the initiatives undertaken.
Strategic Evolution
In light of these observations, and following the evaluation of various action plans carried out over the years, it has been proposed to transform Choose Life Generation into a structure with greater operational and institutional capacity.
Specifically, the organization seeks to become a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) recognized as being of public utility. This transformation aims to:
-
Enhance access to national and international resources
-
Broaden the scope of intervention areas
-
Reinforce institutional legitimacy
-
Ensure the sustainability of achievements made to date
This transition will also involve a revision of the organization’s foundational legal documents, including its statutes and internal regulations, to align with the new vision and broadened mandate.
