Choose Life Generation: Evolving for Greater Impact
Since its creation in 2003, Choose Life Generation has remained deeply committed to supporting the development strategies set forth by the Government of Cameroon, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and the protection of socially vulnerable populations. These include orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC), adolescents, youth, and women in rural areas.
Over the years, the organization has invested significant effort in creating an enabling environment for the development of these marginalized groups. This has been achieved through the design and implementation of various programs and projects aimed at:
-
Promoting health and well-being
-
Enhancing access to education
-
Safeguarding social and human rights
Challenges and Need for Transformation
Despite the progress made—thanks to the continuous support of the State, development partners, civil society actors, families, and communities—the progress remains limited. The primary challenges include:
-
Fragmented and disparate interventions
-
Lack of a concerted and harmonized vision
-
Absence of an integrated, holistic approach to the development of the target groups
These challenges have constrained the impact and sustainability of the interventions.
Strategic Shift Towards Becoming a Public Utility NGO
In light of the need to ensure the sustainability of achievements, and following a thorough evaluation of previous action plans, the leadership of Choose Life Generation has proposed a strategic transition. This involves transforming the association into a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) recognized as being of public utility.
This transition aims to:
-
Broaden the scope of action
-
Promote easier access to national and international resources
-
Expand partnerships
-
Revise and update the organization’s statutes and internal regulations accordingly
Humanitarian Work in the Grand Nord – Pitoa Subdivision
Choose Life Generation is active in the Grand Nord Region, particularly in the Pitoa Subdivision, where Sr. Caroline Chin plays a pivotal role. She leads numerous humanitarian and social outreach activities that directly impact the lives of the most vulnerable populations in the area.
Her work and dedication, as captured in the images below, illustrate the real and tangible impact that Choose Life Generation continues to have—not only in Pitoa but also in surrounding communities and beyond.
