Since 2004, the organization has extended its work to rural areas of the, north, extreme north of Cameroon, Northwest and West region to create awareness on the importance of inclusion. Further from 2007 till date, It has begun to expand its footprint into the national level to ensure that the authorities that be take up their responsibilities in contributing to ensure practical inclusion steps at every level.

Promoting the Rights and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities

Victims of disability suffer a lot of psychosocial issues that needs urgent address they lack access to basic needs healthcare food shelter and clothing they are exposed to discrimination because of their vulnerability their rights are abused, they lack livelihood opportunities(formal and informal educational opportunities) and are considered as second class people. And to empower the origin victimize victims with healthcare and livelihood opportunities

Tackling Ignorance: A Barrier to Inclusion

One of the key issues remains the widespread ignorance of the rights of persons with disabilities. It is regrettable that a significant proportion of the population—including both community members and administrative authorities—are unaware of these rights. This ignorance contributes to exclusion and delays in the implementation of inclusive policies and practices.

Championing Vulnerable Children: The Mission and Work of Choose Life Generation

Choose Life Generation is a community-based, human rights-focused organization committed to the empowerment and protection of vulnerable children, particularly those affected by disability, poverty, violence, and conflict. Founded in 2004 and officially recognized by the Government of Cameroon in 2007, the organization operates with a clear vision:

To restore identity, dignity, and hope to children in marginalized and underserved communities.

Areas of Operation

Choose Life Generation operates primarily in the following regions of Cameroon:

  • North

  • Far North

  • Northwest

  • West

  • Southwest

These are areas severely affected by socio-political instability, armed conflict, and chronic underdevelopment.

Core Challenges Identified

From its inception, the organization’s founders recognized the deep-rooted systemic issues affecting children and their caregivers, including:

  • Neglect and marginalization of children with disabilities

  • The devastating impact of armed conflict on children and families

  • Gender-based violence and human rights violations

  • Social exclusion, lack of basic services, and harmful traditional practices

Key Programs and Interventions

Over the years, Choose Life Generation has designed and implemented a wide range of programs aimed at building resilient and inclusive communities that value and protect every child. These include:

  • Community awareness campaigns on child rights and disability inclusion

  • Training and capacity-building for caregivers, teachers, community leaders, and local authorities

  • Psychosocial support programs for traumatized children and victims of violence

  • Livelihood empowerment and education initiatives for vulnerable children and their families

  • Advocacy and lobbying for stronger policies and legal frameworks supporting child protection and disability rights

National Expansion and Policy Engagement

Since 2007, the organization has been expanding its influence at the national level, actively engaging:

  • Government ministries

  • Civil society organizations

  • Development partners

The goal is to ensure that inclusion is mainstreamed into national development agendas. Choose Life Generation firmly believes that sustainable change can only be achieved through collaborative efforts between grassroots communities and institutional authorities.

Media Engagement and Public Education

The organization also places high importance on the role of the media in driving social change. Recognizing the influence of media in shaping perceptions and dismantling stigma, Choose Life Generation partners with:
